Discontent

Today I read an article in USAToday informing the public of the wealthy delinquent taxpayers, even celebrities who have shunned the taxman. Believe me, it's not only the wealthy who try to beat the system. I personally know people who elude the federal government and the IRS. Didn't Ron Paul speak of doing away with the IRS altogether? How many other federal agencies could be done away with and never missed? If people were allowed to keep 20 % more of their paychecks they might be able to save more for retirement. We know social security won't be there for us.

When you look at the waste that is present within this bloated government, it kind of makes you feel like you're treading quicksand. The politicians who live off us, their sole existence is because of us and the ocean of tax-dollars.

While they all campaign for office (president) who is doing their jobs as senators of their respective states? We're essentially paying them to campaign I guess.

While gas prices continue to climb and the price of groceries rise, they campaign and spew their endless rhetoric of a better tomorrow.

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel a general discontent with this country? I heard someone yell at a protester the other day: "If you're so unhappy why don't you get out of the country?" Isn't that kind of like running away from your house when it's starting to catch fire? Who does that? Why should he have to leave his country and not try to fix it? I think this country is an awesome place with amazing people. People that deserve a lot more than lip service from a group of insulated politicians that has only their own agendas to tend.

Do you really think any of them; (democrat/republican) really cares about what it costs to fill a tank with gasoline?

People tell me almost everyday that things will get better as soon as we get a new administration in the Whitehouse. This is what the system thrives on, republicans pointing fingers at democrats and vice versa. They perpetuate a divisive atmosphere that allows them to elude the biggest picture of all. They aren't needed.

Does anyone really see gas prices falling when the election is over? Do you envision health care suddenly very affordable? Or that Wal-Mart might decide all on its own to pay people more and be honest with them?

Can you imagine turning on the television some day and hearing that the federal government is going to dismantle it self by at least half, and sell off half its assets to trim the budget. That state by state, an appeal would be made to do the same, and give something back to the public.

Can you imagine listening to politicians and hearing nothing but the truth coming from their lips? And you'd know that it wasn't written and polished days ahead by a slick-high-paid speech writer.

Think about it for a minute. If you were guaranteed a fantastic pension, comprehensive health-care, hundreds of perks and gifts bestowed you by some of the largest companies in the world.

If you were surrounded by good friends who slapped you on the back every time you rattled off some fiery dialogue in the hallowed halls of congress. If you knew that you were part of an uncommon brotherhood that lived very comfortably under the protective cloak of the law. Law that you wrote yourself everyday, but it didn't really pertain to you, just the general public. You took home large checks worth hundreds of thousands of dollars simply for allowing a drug company to get their newest drug to market quicker.

I mean, it's not like you're breaking any laws.

You are simply doing what you are entitled to do. Think about that...would you ever want that to come to an end, just so every other person on the planet could have a little piece of the pie? Would you really want that to come to an end?

You would if you cared. I do, do you? Take back your country people. No one's going to give it to you.

Your friend,

Graham
